Changing default keyboard layout

Postby daniel » Thu Nov 08, 2012 10:34 am

Sometimes it happens that we install server, and by mistake forget to set the proper keyboard layout for our environment.

Hereby a small remediation for this.

First check you current (the one you want) keyboard layout. Look in the registry for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1

Take note of the number at 1 (This is your current default keyboard layout)

Second, adapt you layout during login. In the registry:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1

Change the number under 1 towards the number you have noted before.

Et voila.....

Logout and login again, you will notice that password must be entered with the changed layout :D
