Prerequisites

• Server with CentOS 9
• Root or sudo privilege on server

Installation Cockpit

Login into the server. Fist step is to update the system:

sudo yum update -y

Once updated and rebooted, install Cockpit

sudo yum install cockpit -y

When installed, enable and start the Cockpit service

sudo systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket

Configuring Firewall

If firewall is running, you need to allow traffic on port 9090. (Default port of Cockpit)

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=cockpit
sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Accessing Cockpit Web Interface

With Cockpit installed and the firewall configured, you can now access the web interface. Open a web browser and navigate to:

http://your_server_ip:9090

Login with your CentOS server’s username and password to start managing your server through Cockpit’s web interface.
